20 of us will be traveling to Louisiana on January 20th. 5 will be driving, and the rest of us are depending on the quality travel of Skybus! We got a good deal on plane tickets, and our hope and prayer is that all will go well, and we will arrive safely and ready for work come January 21st!
We are staying at Peace Lutheran Church in Slidell (web link in right column - slideshow has pictures of the site as well). Our group stayed there back in March, and it proved to be a great location and wonderful facility. We look forward to spending time with the good people of Peace again, and know that our home base will feel just like that!
Our work will be done out of the Bethlehem Volunteer Center - east of New Orleans and just North of Chalmette - where we worked at a church our first trip down in 2005. So far, we know little details of the work we are to do, but we do know that it will likely involve drywall!
We fly out Sunday Night, January 20th at about 8 pm. Our work day begins at 7:30 the next morning. We will give you an update after our day is complete.
